Powerful communication does not consist of a slick speech or a written essay. It may just be an honest description of our emotional landscape. “I am unclear about what to do next,” “I have been furious with you,” or “I’m exhausted and need to sleep,” may be all we need to say. It is honesty about our intention and how we communicate this intention that will drive the ultimate results. Amy’s integrity and clear intention to support her company and look for a collaborative solution with Ace Construction demonstrates the power of honest, direct communication.

A dog is not considered a good dog because he is a good barker. A man is not considered a good man because he is a good talker.
— Chuang-tzu
