Look To The Signs (2)

Filed in Productivity |Jungian psychology also takes advantage of the ancient power of symbol to help us hear the inner voice. “The psychological mechanism for transforming energy is the symbol,” explained C. G. Jung. The Tarot, a card deck containing eighty-four themes, provides such a symbolic system to describe the human journey and its surrounding challenges and resources. Like the I Ching, the Tarot can be used to ask for guidance or can be seen as a symbolic guide to follow.
Watching for synchronistic or coincidental events is yet another listening device found throughout the spiritual traditions. For example, say I am trying to figure out the right approach to use with a difficult co-worker. Suddenly, a book on a friend’s coffee table containing information on just that subject catches my eye. I overhear a conversation about effective communication while riding the subway. A class on coworker relations is being offered at the community center just down the street.
We only find what we are looking for. By bringing a conflict into focus in our minds with a willingness to hear, we can then begin to look for the solution. All the ideas swirl around us — we just need to catch them. The Tarot, the I Ching, journeys, random text selections, and synchronistic events all provide information that we just have to choose to hear. Just as with dreams, only the recipient knows if the information or an interpretation of it is valuable or “true.” Also, just as with dreams, the masters say that we must weigh this information with all the other data we receive before knowing what our heart’s fire is trying to tell us.
